Every year, a dedicated group of people gather at an undisclosed location that everyone knows about to prepare the popcorn ball for the upcoming drop. These "Merry Pranksters" are Tom & Sally Florkiewicz, Rob & Kathy Schwind, Dewey Forward, Sue Hogan, George Richards, Jan Jones, Scott Butler, Will Butler, Steve King, Jim Newell, Rachael Raymond, Bill Davis, Mort McClennan, and Jeff Holbury (Drone Ohio). Special thanks to our sponsors of years gone by, including Huntington Bank, Ganley Chevrolet in Aurora, Heinens, and of course, The Chagrin Falls Popcorn Shop.
Before being hauled up the flagpole and then dropped at midnight on New Year's Eve, the popcorn ball, named "Jupiter", spends the month of December in from of Chagrin Falls Popcorn. The Popcorn Ball Drop could not happen without a great deal of support from The Village of Chagrin Falls. The Chagrin Falls Fire Department helps us rig the town flagpole with the top pulleys needed to raise and drop the popcorn ball.
